Dolls have been around since the dawn of human civilization, and have been fashioned from a vast array of materials, ranging from stone, clay, wood, bone, cloth and paper, to porcelain, china, rubber and plastic. While dolls have traditionally been toys for children, they are also collected by adults, for their nostalgic value, beauty, historical importance or financial value. In ancient times, dolls were used as representations of a deity, and played a central role in religious ceremonies and rituals. Lifelike or anatomically correct dolls are used by health professionals, medical schools and social workers to train doctors and nurses in various health procedures or investigate cases of sexual abuse of children. Artists sometimes use jointed wooden mannequins in drawing the human figure. Action figures representing superheroes and their predecessors, action dolls, are particularly popular among boys. I have an antique doll, approximately 100 years old, which I would like to have appraised. I would also like to locate a doll hospital to have the eyes put back in place, they aren't broke, just fell out of the socket and into the head. For fake leather, home decorating materials may offer vinyl adhesives that you can cut and stick on to the surfaces to keep costumes lightweight. Q. I want it to look real, like the doll bottles that you purchase at the store. I don't want it to be still, I like the look that it gives when it's all watery and moving, not a solid mass. I already tried water + flour, water + corn starch, and water + baby powder. They all look great when you mix them, but then end up settling at the bottom of the bottle. Elmers glue and water. Get the water boiling (Medium size pot). Remove from heat. Add 1 medium bottle of glue to the water and stir till totally disolved. Allow to cool. If too transluscent, gently warm the water and add more glue slowly till it satisfies your preference.
