Need help with the name of an "antique?" doll...?
Q. I have old "dolls". I will do my best to explain what they look like and maybe someone can help me out. I need to know what they are called and what they are worth. My parents keep calling them carnival dolls and coopie (not sure how to spell that) dolls, but when I google those words I can not find what I am looking for. They are not dolls you would play with. Complete Set of 4 Princess Diana Porcelain Dolls "Portraits of Diana" Collection What are they worth?
Q. All of the dolls are still wrapped in the material they were shipped in and I have the certificates for all of them as well. I am just wondering on how do I find out what they are worth, if anything. I paid approx. $150 per doll.The dolls have been stored in my apartment-always. They are in perfect condition.

I have an antique procelean doll, 2" tall, blond, painted hair and face, stands on her 2 flat feet, value?

A. This is referred to as an all Bisque or sugar candy doll. Many of these dolls were made in Japan and if you look on the back you should see the country of manufacture. These dolls have been produced since the 1800's but German and Japan were most popular in the 1920's and because of the world Wars they lost out in Germany and they were produced in japan. The ones from Japan were not fired with the color and it will wash off, so you have to be very careful. The French one produced over time are the most expensive and sell for thousand of dollars. Referred to as French Pupee de Poche - Mignonette or small pocket doll. I personally have a collection of these dolls but I do not have the money for a french one. Some are even used in doll houses. Has anyone heard of a new doll called "Live Dolls?" I don't know if that's the correct name?

Doll with "foreign" engraved on the back - Antique?
Q. Hello I have a small porcelin/china/clay doll given to me from a relative. I think it is an antique. It is small and white and looks very old It has the word FOREIGN engraved onto the back. Can anyone help me identify it? Thanks

A. I think that your doll IS old. Your best bet would be to find a local doll dealer or doll club and ask their opinion on how you could identify your doll. Try the United Federation of Doll Clubs web site to see if there is a club in your area, or an appraiser that could look at some photos you send, for a reasonable fee. Here is a link to a web site that features a bisque doll that is marked foreign on the back. When I copied the link, the doll was at the bottom of the page. I did a quick net search and there are others with dolls marked foreign who would also like to know about them. Q. Do you like the Ugly Dolls? I grew up with cute stuffed animals which look like it takes some work to make. I saw these "ugly dolls" and could not make a connection with them. By the way, they look like anyone can make them. So what is the big deal about "ugly dolls"? When, I see them, I don't feel altruistic.

Where are some good antique stores out in Upland,CA to sell antique porcelain dolls?

My grandma has 4 very nice looking antique porcelain dolls that she wanted me to sell for her and need to find somewhere that i can sell them so someone else can have them in there home. 1 doll is small and the other 3 are 12 in or taller. How much do you think i will get for them all? I know my grandma would of been happy to see them go to loving homes if she was still here. Thank you to all who help out with this one.
