Q. When I watch documentaries regarding the subject, they seem to be very brief about what the victims did on a day-to-day basis (probably, because viewers are more interested in the life of a Nazi officer). My question's more focused on the prisoners who survived and not the ones that ended up in the gas chambers. Did personal prejudice influence the operations at concentration camps? IE: majority of officers despised homosexuals so they were given the worse tasks, rather than the Jewish. Also, why is Auschwitz seen as the most famous concentration camp? Seeing as there were many. After the war he wrote many books and became one of the most famous writers in Italy. This book is the one that describes with great detail his experiences as a prisoner. It has become a best seller and has been traduced in many languages so I hope you will be able to find it. Any good library should have a copy of it.
