Need help with the name of an "antique?" doll...?
Q. I have old "dolls". I will do my best to explain what they look like and maybe someone can help me out. I need to know what they are called and what they are worth. My parents keep calling them carnival dolls and coopie (not sure how to spell that) dolls, but when I google those words I can not find what I am looking for. They are not dolls you would play with. They were more of a collectible or decoration. They stand up, and they always have very prety dresses on. This is the hard part to explain. The face was made out of string, and the eyes were painted on. I hope someone knows what I am taking about.. The head was plastic or something with threads of string covering it to make it look like the color of the face. I believe the… [cont.]

How many parents out there are actually purchasing the "bratz dolls" for the under 8 set?
Q. I recently attended a TWO year olds birthday party that was themed around the bratz dolls. This child recieved at least 2 dozen pieces of bratz merchandise and to be honest I thought they were bit sexual for a such a young child. My daughters birthday rolled around and the same couple who threw the bratz party bought my 2 year old a bratz sheet set for her "big girl bed" . The images on the sheets were girls with full blown floozy make up on and teeny tiny hot pants pjs...I disturbs me and I am hoping that these dolls are generaly aimed at older childern (say like 13?) A. Thank god, I am not alone. I am only 24 and I do not have any children, but I used to work at a wal mart. It was amazing to see how fast they sold and who they were selling to. I find them disturbing. What kind of a message are people sending to their children? On more then one occasion I had parents, with their children with them (as young as about 3 or 4) picking out the one they don't already have and then turning and commenting to me about how cute these dolls were!!! Cute? A far cry from cute if you ask me. What happened to Cabbage Patch Dolls, and Strawberry Short Cake? Now that is CUTE! I can tell you if I had any children, that would be the last thing in the world I would be letting them play with. Even if they are meant to be… [cont.]

I have an antique procelean doll, 2" tall, blond, painted hair and face, stands on her 2 flat feet, value?
Q. Anyone familiar with this antique doll. My mother owned it for over 50 years. Jointed shoulders, legs not jointed, 2" tiny.
Asked by - Tue Jan 11 01:21:51 2011 - Toys - 1 Answers - Comments
A. This is referred to as an all Bisque or sugar candy doll. Many of these dolls were made in Japan and if you look on the back you should see the country of manufacture. These dolls have been produced since the 1800's but German and Japan were most popular in the 1920's and because of the world Wars they lost out in Germany and they were produced in japan. The ones from Japan were not fired with the color and it will wash off, so you have to be very careful. The French one produced over time are the most expensive and sell for thousand of dollars. Referred to as French Pupee de Poche - Mignonette or small pocket doll. I personally have a collection of these dolls but I do not have the money for a french one. Some are even used in doll houses. where can I find a monologue that is similar to the character of Sky Masterson in "Guys and Dolls"?
Q. My son is trying out for his high school musical. They are doing "Guys and Dolls". He needs a monologue from 2-3 minutes long that would portray the character of Sky Masterson. But he can't use one of Sky's monologues. How do I know where to look and what to look for?

A. You can try this site: I would look for something blunt and snappy. It can be comic -- but a dry humor. Sky is a very confident, cool fellow with surprisingly firm principles. He is respected and bows to no one -- except perhaps Sarah.

What happened to the winner of "Pussycat dolls present..the search for the next doll", Asia Nitollano
Q. I watched the show and Asia Nitollano was announced the winner. However, I do not see her in the group as the lead singer as the show suggested she would be. Did she quit, thus never appearing with them at the "Live Earth" show. Did Asia Nitollano get fired because Nicole Scherzinger returned full-time due to her "poor" solo project debut. Is Nicole a solo artist or has she rejoined/never left the Pussycat dolls (PCD) . Is Asia a solo artist, now and does she have a record contact??? Thanks in advance for your informative input, fans Why does Asia not have a record contract with A&M, Griffin Records ?

Q. Hello I have a small porcelin/china/clay doll given to me from a relative. I think it is an antique. It is small and white and looks very old It has the word FOREIGN engraved onto the back. Can anyone help me identify it? Thanks

A. I think that your doll IS old. Your best bet would be to find a local doll dealer or doll club and ask their opinion on how you could identify your doll. Try the United Federation of Doll Clubs web site to see if there is a club in your area, or an appraiser that could look at some photos you send, for a reasonable fee. Here is a link to a web site that features a bisque doll that is marked foreign on the back. When I copied the link, the doll was at the bottom of the page. I did a quick net search and there are others with dolls marked foreign who would also like to know about them. One possibility is that they were patented not only for the country of manufacture but for foreign patents, as well. Good luck. I hope you find out more about… [cont.]

A. About 10 years ago (when my daughter was little) I saw the American Girl series of books at the library. It doesn't hurt to check. Or you could just buy them. How old is your granddaughter? If she is really young and would want to read the books over and over again, it is worth it to purchase them. Otherwise, I would suggest, reserving them at your local library. Have fun!

My favorite one is 'Ice-Bat'. they are for everyone, like for little girls to older boys. so instead of brats and action figures they can be sorta both. i hope my answer helps. Q. My daughter has been asking for "Monster High Dolls", the Werewolf sisters, Cupid, and Abbey. i cannot find them any where and was wondering why? I can find them on Ebay and Amazon, but people are selling them for hundreds of dollars. Are these people being greedy or are they really worth the money people are asking for. BUt seriously hundreds of dollars? thats nuts. Anywho, if you are looking for tehm, check walmart or target. I see them there ALL the time. If you cant find them in-store, try online:)

A. "hundreds of dollars"??? whattt???:O thats crazy, my only assumption on the matter is that if theses dolls are such a hot item and the supply of them seems to be limited, people will chrage more for them. BUt seriously hundreds of dollars? thats nuts. Anywho, if you are looking for tehm, check walmart or target. I see them there ALL the time. If you cant find them in-store, try online:)
